Custodial History
Kenneth Edward James gained his PhD in 1987 at Royal Holloway College, University of London, for his thesis 'Concert Life in 18th Century Bath'. No other author to date has attempted to match the scope of this study, and Dr James' thesis stands as the principal reference work on the subject. The thesis covered three main areas of research: the development of concert life in Bath, the contribution of individual performers and composers, and the influence of music on the life of 18th century residents of Bath.
