Custodial History
Bath Area Medical Research Trust had its origins in the mid 1960s when Dr George Kersley initiated a scheme to support research among clinicians in the Bath clinical area. The Trust was established in 1966 and registered as a charity in 1968. It was successful in raising money for many causes and enabled or supported research institutes such as the Bath Institute for Rheumatic Diseases and The Research Institute for the Care of the Elderly. It was wound up in 2005, with the Sims Trust transferred to the Association of Friends of St Martin's Hospital.
