Whereas Francis Merewether has contracted agreed with George Smyth and Charlotte Smyth for the absolute purchase of the Freehold and Inheritance of the premises at the sum of £600.

Whereas a part only of the legacies devised in the will of Rev. Charles Dix have been paid, and doubts have arisen as to whether or not the assets of the said testator will be adequate to satisfy the said bequests. The said Francis Merewether being apprehensive that in case there shall be a deficiency of assets some claims or demands may be made against the Freehold premises so demised to Charlotte Smyth. It was thereby agreed that George Smyth would become bound in a sufficient penal sum to indemnify Francis Merewether and the said premises against any claims or demands in respect of the several bequests under the will of the Rev. Charles Dix.
