Bailbrook House Asylum: Bailbrook House was designed by John Eveleigh for Dr Denham Skeet, a wealthy Lawyer, construction begain in 1790 but did not finish until the early part of the 19th Century. It was home and host to many wealthy residents and guests over the years including Queen Charlotte and her son the Duke of Clarence, later William IV.
In 1869 the House was converted into a privately run asylum, which operated until 1977. In the late 1970s it was converted into a Training College, which ran until the early 2000s. From c.2012 it was renovated and converted into a Hotel and Conference centre.
