Whereas John Ovens Thomas made his will 4 February 1835. giving and devising to his brother Alfred Thomas, his nephew John Sanderson Thomas, and his friend Joseph Eaton, all his estate upon trust to sell the same after his decease. Whereas John Ovens Thomas died on 16 May 1836. Whereas Alfred Thomas died on 5 April 1946.

Whereas Henry Fowler Cotterell made his will dated 17 June 1859 appointing his sons Jacob Henry Cotterell and Frederick Fowler Cotterell and the said John Stone joint executors and trustees, demising his estate to them for sale when they see fit, but at furthest as soon as may be convenient after the decease of his wife. Whereas Henry Fowler Cotterell died on 11 July 1860, and his wife Sarah died on 6 September 1865. Whereas Jacob Henry Cotterell and John Stone caused the ground rent of £3.10s issuing out of a piece of ground on Combe Down as secured by 0313/13 and the reversion of the fee simple thereof, to be put up for public auction, Thomas Hanks being the purchaser thereof at the sum of £75.
