The staff newspapers of the Wessex Water Authority, later Wessex Water Plc, underwent multiple names and iterations. These newspapers provide information about the corporate structures and changes of Wessex Water, features on what the departments do, regular articles on the work of the charity WaterAid, information and reports regarding social and sports events for employees. Some issues may contain information about the waterworks, sewerage schemes, archaeological digs, and extreme weather, this catalogue makes mention if it does, but it is not exhaustive.
The first version was published on 10th May 1974 and was called Wessex Waters News (0312/1/22/1). It only had one issue and was A4 sheets stapled together.
A more formal tabloid newspaper called Splash (0312/1/22/2) was published from August 1974 to May 1988 for 46 issues. The last few issues were published in a magazine format.
A single edition of a newspaper titled Connections (0312/1/22/3) was published in September 1988 in an A4 format.
Wessex News (0312/1/22/4) was published from November 1988 to September 1990, again in a tabloid newspaper format.
In the lead up to privatisation, the staff newspaper became Wessex Water News (0312/1/22/5) and ran from October 1990 to August 2001. It would be in tabloid, A3, and A4 formats.
The final version of the staff newspaper in the collection is titled Source (0312/1/22/6), in both A3 and A4 magazine formats, the copies are from January 2002 to April 2007. It is uncertain whether there are issues after issue 26.
